visual  inspections

Fast Inspections done in minutes!

In a hurry to go make a dive?  No problem!  Our skilled technicians can visualize and service your cylinder and valve while you wait or browse through the store.

Do you have more than a few tanks due for inspections?  Bring them in!  If you don't have time to wait on-site, we understand.  You are welcome to drop off your fleet of cylinders and pick them up later.

What's a 'Viz' and why do I need one?

A visual inspection is performed annually to make sure your cylinder is properly maintained and safe to use.  A visual inspection is more than simply removing the valve and peeking inside a cylinder.  Our Nautical Adventures technicians are trained to look at every detail of your cylinder and valve from the inside out.  Every time we take a cylinder to refill, our technician will check all stickers and stamps to ensure your inspections and hydro-stat tests are up to date.  We check the exterior as well as interior to look for signs of corrosion, oxidation or rust.  Then we use a small, lighted periscope to magnify and closely examine each thread in the neck of your cylinder to insure your cylinder is free of cracks and debris.

What's included with a visual inspection?

MORE THAN A CYLINDER CHECK!  Every visual inspection also includes a valve service.  When we remove a valve from your cylinder, we replace o-rings, check the handle, spring, nut, burst disk, dip stick and threads to ensure nothing is loose, corroded, or needs a deep cleaning or replacement.  We then lubricate all valves with a chemically inert, oxygen compatible, wide operating temperature range, fluorinated grease before returning it to the cylinder.

GET FREE AIR! We give free air fills for the year when we Visually Inspect your cylinders!  Nitrox is provided at a discounted rate when you have our Visual Inspection sticker!
